What's Been Happening

Peruvian National Celebration Days

The "Fiestas Patrias" (peruv. National Celebration Days on 28./29.07.) paralized the daily routine. And we could look back to some weeks full of practical work and also some trips:

        Renovation of our Prayer House

For example we´urgently had to rough-cast the outside of our Prayer House because of the activities of the "woodpeckers" and also the rough clima.

During the last weeks our master Simeon and our neighbour Vidal did a good job there up on the hill. The work is nearly finished, only the materials are still leaving an atmosphere of a construction site... >

The outside before...

... and now... no more chance for the woodpeckers!

Visit to the Hurtado family in the jungle

Birgit with Pr. Juan, Saturnina, Jhulmer and Sarvia

After having planned this visit for a longer time Birgit finally could make  it to the Hurtado famliy in Mazuko (12.-16.07.) where they are living and working since 1 1/2 years (s. upper foto to the right).

What a contrast to the Peruvian highlands!

                                        New mini-transporter

Javier had been in Tacna from the 20th to 25th of July to look for a new mini-transporter for our center. At the end he found this quite new SUZUKI (although second hand): small, but really strong (4x4)!

We ware glad and thankful for this solution of our transport question for our sheep, garbage and materials. :-)

Looks like a toy but is really strong!

It´s inside

Sweet welcome to the new "member"...

 Bigger sewage pit

Digging the new pit

We urgently needed a bigger sewage pit for the bathrooms of our center. The former one could not deal any longer with the high frecuency of events and began to overflow.
